Plies verdict reduced to Zero

Once sued for $10m, Rush & Glassman continued to fight for rapper "Plies" even beyond the small jury verdict from last year's trial. After reviewing the evidence presented by The Chestnut Firm and Spoorer & Dodd of Jacksonville, the Circuit Court ruled that the Plaintiffs failed as a matter of law to establish the first element of any lawsuit: duty. This completely exonerated Plies from the 2006 shooting at a local nightclub called 238 West, as was previously concluded in the criminal proceeding against Plies.

With an internal affairs report chronicling how technicians and supervisors at the Alachua County Sheriff's Office mishandled evidence and, in some cases, forged the chain of custody, defense attorneys in Gainesville are looking for more information to find out whether any of their cases were jeopardized.

The report was the subject of a Sun article published Friday and has been the topic of attorneys who want to know how pervasive the issues were and whether their clients' rights might have been violated.
