Jacob A. Rush

Jacob Rush

A Gainesville native, Jacob earned a degree in Classical Studies from UF. He then went on to become a Sheriff’s Deputy at the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. As a deputy, Jacob learned the particulars of law enforcement and the criminal justice system from the ground up. He patrolled all of Alachua County, worked as a D.U.I. investigator and did proactive drug enforcement. When Jacob's zone partner, an Army National Guardsman, was called up to Afghanistan in 2005, Jacob went to law school.

As a practicing attorney, Jacob takes the skills and knowledge of law enforcement up the legal chain to the courthouse, focusing mainly on civil litigation. His years of writing traffic tickets, responding to emergencies and investigating crashes as a Sheriff’s Deputy are valuable assets to his clients.

Civil rights became a passion Jacob developed from his time as a law enforcement officer.  "To Serve and Protect." He uses that police instinct now to protect people from unlawful cops and bring government wrongdoers to justice. Nothing poisons the hard work of the vast majority of our Nation’s Finest like the few who abuse their charge; Jacob enjoys challenging them head-on.

The Rush & Glassman legal team often leverages Jacob’s experience in criminal cases, where his unique knowledge is valuable in determining whether police error created the wrong result.

Jacob serves the Florida Bar as the Young Lawyer’s Division Board of Governors representative for the Eighth Judicial Circuit.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the local Bar. He continues to hone his law enforcement interests as a member of the City of Gainesville’s Black on Black Crime Task Force.  He is also a certified County Court Mediator.
