History of Excellence

Robert Rush began his legal career as an intern at the State Attorney’s Office in 1984. His first job as a lawyer was at the Eighth Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, where he built a reputation for trying cases. Mr. Rush went in to private practice in 1987 and opened his own office a year later in a small shared rental space.

In 1991 he hired Dan Glassman, a bright young aspiring law student, to be his clerk. Soon after Dan began working for Robert, he started law school. From a small rental space they continued to build the firm by providing excellent service to their clients, who routinely referred their friends and returned as repeat clients for any and all legal issues.

Successfully building a practice, in 1995 Robert bought the building at 726 NE 1st Street, which at that time was abandoned and run down. Robert restored the building, put up his shingle as the “Law Office of Robert A. Rush,” and planted a garden in the courtyard.

In 1998 the law office became Rush & Glassman.

In 2000, Robert’s sister, Marian Rush, a successful large-firm civil lawyer in Tampa, decided to join her big brother’s firm.

In 2001 Robert Rush coached the U.F. Law Trial Team to a national championship. He selected Nick Zissimopulos, the brightest of his team, to clerk at his office. Nick joined Rush & Glassman as a clerk and was hired as a lawyer after passing the bar.

When the firm and support staff needed more room, Robert Rush bought the dilapidated and burned-out historic building at 11 SE 2nd Ave. In 2008, after two years of meticulous reconstruction, Rush & Glassman moved into the current historic three-story office.

Soon after the renovation, Jacob Rush passed the bar after completing law school in 2.5 years and joined as the youngest member of the firm.
